Introduction:
As a professional engineer, I'm constantly forced to learn new things. Even after
nearly 30 years of engineering experience, seldom does a consulting job come my way that
doesn't require me to at least do some basic research.
I'm a hands-on kind of person. Rather than try to mathematically prove that a
circuit will work I prefer to build it and test it to make sure. I love to tinker, build
and test things. Some of my best ideas came after playing around with some circuit or some
sensors.

Included in the Journal:
In the Experimenter's Journal, the reader can follow the steps of the basic
research involved in some projects. Most of the projects included will not
lead to any final product. Instead, they demonstrate some new circuit concept or an
invention idea. Some of the tests will succeed, others will fail.
Such is the nature of research, one learns as much from failure as from
success.

Experiment Ideas:
Some
of the experiments I plan to conduct are listed below
- Narrow Gap Xenon Flash Tube Light Sources
- Vehicle Traffic Counter Using Laser Diode
- Vehicle Speed Monitor Using Laser Diodes
- Short Range Distance Measuring System Using Laser Diode
- Lawn Moisture Monitor
- Bouncing Light Pulses Off Clouds
- Bouncing Light Pulses Off the Moon
- Super Capacitors Charged by Solar Cells
- Monitoring Weak Electric Signals in Earth Ground
- Switch Mode AC to DC Power Supply Without Input Energy Storage Capacitors
- Short Range Human Motion Alarm Using Light Pulses
I welcome your comments. Please email any comments or
suggestions for future experiments you would like me to conduct.
