Guide to Preparedness Now - 1st Aide Supplies - Medication

Create two Medication Kits - keep one for every-day use and put the second one in your shelter.   Do not "borrow" supplies from the one in your shelter.

Include these OTC medications:

  • Aloe vera gel
  • Antacids
  • Anti-diarrhea medication
  • Antihistamine, such as diphenhydramine
  • Aspirin (relieves minor aches and pains, especially from arthritis)
  • Auto-injector of epinephrine, if prescribed by your doctor
  • Benadryl (relieves allergy symptoms, soar throat, airway irritation, motion sickness)
  • Calamine lotion
  • Cough and cold medications
  • Hydrocortisone cream
  • Ibuprofen (reduces swelling, pain reliever, fever reducer)
  • Imodium (anti-diarrhea)
  • Metamucil (laxative)
  • Muscinex and Muscinex DM (breaks up chest congestion before infection sets in)
  • Pepto-Bismol (upset stomach)
  • Tylenol (relieves pain from headaches, muscle aches, and other aches and pains)

Include  a minimum of a 7 day supply of all Prescription medications (people & pets)
