The familiar J-shaped candy treat hit the scene in the early 1900’s.  Tradition has it that a candy maker in Indiana wanted to do something special for Christmas.  His idea was to bend one of his white candy stick forming a sheppard’s crook. - of Jesus as a shepherd of his flock
